WE ACTUALLY WANT TO WIN

Who can register my campaign for Campaign Verify and 10DLC?

We can. Vertical Web handles the full registration for candidates, parties and PACs so your team can stay focused on voters and fundraising. You tell us about your committee. We do the forms, the follow-up and the fixes. We handle the filing like your race depends on it, because it can. A campaign that cannot text in the final stretch is giving away votes.

Most registration problems are not hard. They are tedious. A committee name typed two different ways. A website with no texting terms. Sample messages that do not match how you really plan to text. We catch those details because we look for them on purpose. If you want to understand the system first, read our plain-English political 10DLC compliance guide.

We also cover the part a paperwork-only vendor cannot. Carrier reviewers visit your campaign website, and we design and host websites. If your site needs a privacy policy, texting terms or a clearer sign-up form, our Houston web design team builds it, and our WordPress hosting keeps it online. The same people then submit your registration.

HOW IT WORKS

What is the campaign vetting process for 10DLC?

Here is the order we work in. Each step builds on the one before it, so a clean start saves trouble later. You approve what we submit, and we keep you posted at every stage.

  1. Collect your committee details. We start with the official filing your committee made with the FEC or a Texas or local election office, and note the exact legal name, address, committee type and contacts.
  2. Get your website review-ready. We look at your campaign site the way a reviewer would and add or fix the privacy policy, texting terms and opt-in wording on your sign-up forms.
  3. Submit to Campaign Verify. We file the verification request. When Campaign Verify confirms you, it issues your token.
  4. Register your brand and political campaign. We enter both with your texting platform, attach the token and write the description, samples and opt-in language. Then the carriers review it.
  5. Answer questions and hand off. Once you are approved, you get a short summary of what was registered, which helps when you add numbers or change how you text.
GETTING STARTED

What does your campaign need to start Campaign Verify registration?

You do not need to understand the carrier system to get started. Gather these and send us what you have. We will point out anything missing.

  • Your committee filing with the FEC or your state, local or tribal election authority. It becomes the master record.
  • An authorized contact, usually the candidate, treasurer or campaign manager, who approves what we submit. Pick someone who replies quickly.
  • Access to your website. The texting terms and privacy pages have to be live before we file.
  • Your texting platform. Registration goes in through that platform, and switching later can mean redoing part of the paperwork.
  • An honest picture of your plan. Volunteer conversations, event reminders, fundraising asks and rapid response read differently to a reviewer. We describe what you really plan to send.
  • Your approved disclosure. If your texts count as political advertising in Texas, we need the Sec. 255.001 wording your treasurer or counsel approved, or we draft it for their review.
THE CASE FOR VERTICAL WEB ON 10DLC REGISTRATION

Paperwork, website and sends from one team

Instructors, not order takers

Beth Guide has taught digital marketing for the SBA, the University of Houston SBDC, Lone Star College and HCC since 2003, and explains technology on Fox 26.

One team from site to send

When a reviewer flags your privacy page, the fix does not wait on a separate web vendor. The people who submit your file update your site.

Honest about fit

If your race is better served by email or calls than texting, we will tell you before you pay for registration you do not need.

AFTER APPROVAL

What happens after Campaign Verify approves your committee?

Approval puts you on the road. Staying approved takes a little care, especially across a primary, a possible runoff and a general election.

Once your committee is verified, the token attaches to your registration so carriers can see you are an authentic political sender, and your texts run under the political use case. New committees, new platforms and new kinds of messages can all affect your registration. So can a big shift in what you send, like moving from volunteer conversations to fundraising asks. Tell us before you change course.

Campaign Verify verification is tied to each entity for one two-year election cycle. If you run again, or your PAC stays active, you verify again when a new cycle begins. Officeholders often keep texting between elections, and our voter outreach services team handles the ongoing sends.

WHO QUALIFIES

Does your committee qualify for Campaign Verify?

Campaign Verify serves U.S. political campaigns, parties and PACs. To qualify, your group should be a candidate committee, party, PAC or other political committee organized as a 527 and registered with the FEC, or with an election authority at the state, local or tribal level. That covers most races, from a Houston city council seat to a statewide office. Registration help is one piece of the political consulting work we do for Texas campaigns.

If your organization is not a 527, the political use case is likely not open to you. That can include advocacy nonprofits, colleges, government agencies and businesses that want to talk about an election. You may still be able to register as a standard business or nonprofit sender, and we help you choose an honest registration that fits what you actually send. Remember that carrier approval is not the whole story. Consent, opt-outs and Texas disclosures are covered in our email and SMS compliance for campaigns checklist. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

Identity verification

How Campaign Verify identity verification works: PIN codes, tokens and your filing record

Campaign Verify confirms that the person asking to text on behalf of a political entity is really connected to it. The check starts with your filing record. Campaign Verify compares the information in your application with what your committee filed with the Federal Election Commission or your state or local election office, so the committee name, address, email address and phone number need to match exactly.

Next comes identity verification. Campaign Verify sends a PIN code to contact details tied to the official filing, which can mean an email, a phone call or a letter in the mail, depending on the committee type and the information on record. Whoever receives the PIN has to enter it before the verification request can move forward. That is why the authorized contact you pick matters so much. If the PIN goes to a treasurer who checks email once a week, the whole submission waits.

Once verified, Campaign Verify issues your CV token. Your texting platform attaches it to your 10DLC registration with The Campaign Registry, or TCR, which is the central database carriers use to review business and political messaging. If a consultant or vendor handles your texts, you can share access through authorization tokens instead of handing over your account login. We keep a record of every token so nothing is lost between the primary and the general election.

Choosing a channel

10DLC messaging services for political campaigns vs toll free numbers, short codes and P2P

Most campaigns text through 10DLC, a standard 10 digit local phone number registered for application to person messaging. It is the usual channel for volunteer recruitment, event reminders and get out the vote texts, and the political use case gives verified committees a clear path to approval.

Could you use a toll free number instead? Yes, in many cases. Toll free texting has its own verification process and works for some campaigns that want a single number across a large state. Short codes, the 5 or 6 digit numbers, can handle large volume but take longer to set up and cost more. The right channel depends on your list size, your budget and how fast you need to launch. We help you choose before you pay for registration you do not need.

Peer to peer texting does not get you out of registration. Even when a volunteer presses send on each text message, those texts usually travel over registered 10DLC numbers, so the committee still needs Campaign Verify and a political brand. Skipping it is the fastest way to get your messages filtered or your numbers blocked in the final days of a race.

If you are a consultant who provides texting for several campaigns, each committee verifies on its own. You manage the sends, and each client authorizes your account through its own token. Our political 10DLC compliance guide explains the carrier rules in more detail.

Costs and consequences

What does 10DLC registration cost, and what happens if you text without it?

Registration has a few cost layers. Campaign Verify charges a verification fee for each political entity, and The Campaign Registry and your texting platform charge brand and campaign registration fees, plus monthly fees for each registered campaign. Check each vendor’s current pricing before you file, because the amounts change. Our fee for handling the paperwork is quoted separately, so you can see exactly what goes to whom.

Sending without registration is a bad bet. Carriers filter or block unregistered application to person traffic, and texts that do get through can be delayed or marked as spam. A campaign that discovers this in October loses the channel at the exact moment it matters most. Registration also does not replace the voter consent and opt-out rules under the TCPA or the Texas disclosure rules, which our email and SMS compliance checklist covers.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Campaign Verify and 10DLC questions

It depends on how complete your paperwork is and on review queues that no vendor controls. We will not promise a date, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We remove the delays you do control: matched filing details, a review-ready website and clean sample messages.

Yes, as long as the group qualifies. Any 527 political committee registered with the FEC or a state, local or tribal election office qualifies. We handle each entity separately, because each one verifies on its own.

No. We can register your brand and political campaign with the platform you already use, as long as it supports political 10DLC registration. The registration belongs to your committee, and we give you a record of what was filed.

Then Campaign Verify is probably not your route. Advocacy nonprofits, colleges and businesses may still be able to text as a registered business or nonprofit sender under a standard use case. Your counsel should confirm how election rules apply before you send.

In general, Campaign Verify covers an entity for a two-year election cycle, so races inside that cycle work from the same verification. What can change mid-cycle is your registration, such as a new platform or new message types.

We read the reason, fix what caused it and resubmit. The fix might be in the paperwork, the sample messages or your website. Because we build and host websites, a site change does not wait on another vendor.

It depends on your committee, how many numbers and platforms are involved and how much website work is needed. Schedule a consultation so we can scope it, or start with a free website audit if you only need site fixes.

No. Campaign Verify confirms your committee is a real political sender for carrier purposes. Carrier rules and TCPA rules are separate systems. Consent, opt-outs and Texas disclosures still apply. This is not legal advice.

U.S. political campaigns, parties and PACs organized as 527 political committees and registered with the FEC or a state, local or tribal election authority. Each entity verifies separately.

Usually not. P2P texts generally travel over registered 10DLC numbers, so the committee still needs Campaign Verify and a political brand registration.

In many cases, yes. Toll free texting has its own verification process. It can suit a statewide campaign that wants one number, but 10DLC remains the most common route for political texting.

The PIN goes to contact details tied to your official filing, such as the email address, phone number or mailing address on record. Make sure the authorized contact can receive it and respond quickly.

Let us do the paperwork

Send us your committee filing and your website address. We will check both, tell you what needs fixing and take your registration from there.
